I think I'll write a bit about what we're doing here anyway actually.

So, left Perth Sunday evening - took a long, but fairly nice Emirates flight to Dubai. Dubai was really, really hot. We stepped off the plane into 28 degree weather, felt like near 100% humidity, and it was only 4am! Very glad we weren't hanging around till the afternoon! Took off for Amsterdam soon after.

Amsterdam was extremely well organised, we were on a train to Utrecht (where Audrey will soon be presenting!) in no time at all. Sat in first class for a bit, until we were told that we were only second class citizens (sigh!).

Utrecht was beautiful, but we got lost immediately. Trying to follow the directions of 1 help desk, 2 bus drivers and finally a dude at a Shell petrol station found us at our hostel around about an hour and a half later. Much easier to navigate now we have our bearings. Hostel is very nice, alarmingly soft beds, and the most terrifying staircases, but very nice. I think I might say that about any place that lets me shower after 18 hours on planes, with a stop over in the desert.

Psychologique Institutie right next to our hotel! Had a lot of traffic late at night....

Went for a walk last night for dinner, a long wander around the main eating places of Utrecht. Had a 5eur pint of Wienstephan (on tap!), and Audrey had a 4eur Duvel ($5 - around $8 a bottle from IBS in perth) - that was nice. Then we went to Den Draek, a little restaurant along what is apparently Utrecht's most famous canal. We did indeed sit dangerously close to the canal! Good food, awesome atmosphere.

Hmmm, menu is in dutch.....

Sitting real close to very green body of water here

Den Draeck? What could that possibly translate to...

The long days are really messing with my head. Sun set at 10pm at the moment. Walked home after dinner at 9:30pm, still blue skies, birds etc. Streets were full of people doing normal stuff. Really, really bizarre.
